HOUSING DEMAND & SHORTAGE
Through the analysis of the survey conducted in the planning area, it was observed that housing shortage, slum redevelopment and housing quality improvement were some of the primary issues that need to be addressed immediately.
METHODOLOGY
Meeting the calculated housing demand by considering the number of homeless households,dilapidated and congested households in the present and the number of new housholds created through natural population growth and the migrated population during phase I and II

The strategies are proposed in two stages i.e Phase I (2017-2022) and Phase II (2022-2027)

The data collected and Analysis was presented in Brief for Alipurduar only, a selected town of the entire Region. The Housing Status and Proposals for the complete Region were detailed out in the report.

The Housing Quality Indicator (HQI) system is a measurement and assessment tool designed to allow potential or existing housing schemes to be evaluated on the basis of quality rather than simply of cost.
HOUSING PROPOSALS
the unplanned and unregulated growth needs to be checked to facilitate the economic, social and industrial growth predicted in the area in two phases.The present housing shortage in Alipurduar region has been calculated as 5000 units and is projected as 3600 units during phase I and 15000 units in phase II owing to the rapid economic growth anticipated.
